About Wisley Rotich
Wisley Kipyegon Rotich, born in 1986 in Emsoo Ward, Keiyo North, is the current Governor of Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Kenya. He studied Economics at Moi University, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and began his career as a budget officer at the Kenya Wildlife Service before moving to Equity Bank as an operations officer. Later, he served as Director of Cooperatives in Elgeyo-Marakwet, where he revived dormant societies and introduced automation. In 2017, he became Deputy Governor under Alex Tolgos, and in 2022, he was elected Governor on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. His leadership focuses on cooperative revival, youth and women empowerment, and addressing security challenges in the region.
