About Samson Cherarkey
Samson Kiprotich Cherarkey is a Kenyan politician and lawyer who currently serves as the Senator for Nandi County under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) within the Kenya Kwanza coalition. He first entered the Senate in 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket and was re-elected in 2022 under UDA. Cherarkey studied law at Moi University and later trained at the Kenya School of Law, becoming an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. In the Senate, he is known for his assertive oversight style, often pressing governors and county governments on accountability and transparency. His legislative interests span across devolution, anti-corruption, agriculture, education, and youth empowerment. He has sponsored bills aimed at strengthening county governance and addressing livestock theft, reflecting his focus on rural and grassroots issues. Cherarkey is also a vocal defender of Kenya Kwanza’s policies and frequently appears in public debates, positioning himself as one of the more outspoken voices in the Senate.
