Phillip Aroko

Philip Aroko is a flamboyant Kenyan businessman and a prominent Independent politician heavily contesting the 2027 parliamentary seat for Kasipul Constituency in Homa Bay County.His primary platform runs under the local slogan "OTETE" and is powered by his philanthropic organization, the Aroko Leadership Foundation. His platform focuses on community-driven infrastructure, building houses for low-income widows, upgrading passable local roads, and offering youth employment opportunities.Known locally for his financial muscle, he built his brand through corporate investments and private business ventures in Nairobi and Western Kenya.Originally an ODM insider, he broke away to run as an Independent during the November 2025 Kasipul by-election following the death of former MP Charles Ong’ondo Were. Despite finishing as the runner-up to incumbent MP Boyd Were, he immediately launched his 2027 rematch campaign, capturing a massive slice of the youth vote.His rise has been shadowed by major legal battles. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) previously named him a person of interest regarding the murder of the late MP Charles Were, leading to an arraignment where his legal team strongly maintained his innocence. He has also been previously linked by detectives to high-stakes Nairobi fake-gold trade civil litigation.
