Mohamed Adan Khalif

Mohamed Adan Khalif is a Kenyan politician and public servant who currently serves as the Governor of Mandera County. Born on November 29, 1975, in Mandera, he has built a career spanning both public administration and the private sector. He began his political journey in 1998 as a councillor for Mandera Township and later became the Mayor and Chairman of Mandera Town Council, where he focused on urban planning and resolving land disputes. Beyond politics, he worked as the Managing Director of Frontier Engineering between 2005 and 2017, overseeing key infrastructure projects such as roads, electrification, and water supply. His leadership extended to the Mandera County Assembly, where he served as Speaker from 2017 to 2022, ensuring constitutional processes and legislative oversight. In August 2022, Khalif was elected Governor under the United Democratic Movement (UDM), succeeding Ali Roba. His tenure emphasizes development, unity, and service delivery, positioning him as a progressive leader dedicated to improving Mandera’s infrastructure, governance, and community inclusion.
