About Ledama Ole Kina
Ledama Ole Kina is a Kenyan politician and the current Senator for Narok County, elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket. Born on November 11, 1974, he has built a reputation as a vocal legislator, especially on issues of environmental conservation, education, and accountability in governance. He studied Political Science and English Communication at the University of Massachusetts Boston and also attended Fort Lewis College in Colorado. Before entering politics, he worked in media and academia, including roles with Reuters and as a lecturer in the U.S. Ole Kina is the founder of Maasai Education Discovery, an initiative that promotes education among Maasai girls, and he has been a strong advocate for the rehabilitation of the Mau Forest Complex. In the Senate, he has sponsored bills such as the County Oversight and Accountability Bill and the Seeds and Plant Varieties (Amendment) Bill. Since 2023, he has served as the Senate Minority Whip, making him a key figure in ODM’s parliamentary leadership. His sister, Lilian Seenoi-Barr, is also a politician, serving in Northern Ireland.
