Jonathan Lelelit Lati

Jonathan Lelelit Lati is the current Governor of Samburu County, elected in 2022 on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. Born in Naiborkeju, Samburu, he has a strong academic background with a degree in Mathematics and Economics from St. Lawrence University in New York and an MBA in Finance from Brandeis University in Massachusetts. Before entering politics, he built a career in finance, working at Wells Fargo and later as a portfolio manager at State Street Global Advisors in the U.S. His political journey began when he was elected Member of Parliament for Samburu West in 2013, where he focused heavily on expanding access to education by establishing several secondary schools. As governor, he has emphasized economic development and public service delivery, though his administration has faced challenges in meeting all its promises.
