About Dr. Lilian Gogo
Hon. Dr. Lilian Gogo is a highly accomplished academic, food scientist, and trailblazing politician serving her second consecutive term as the Member of Parliament for Rangwe Constituency in Homa Bay County. She made history during the 2017 elections as the first woman to be elected MP for Rangwe, and she shattered regional political norms again in 2022 by breaking the constituency's long-standing "one-term jinx". Dr. Gogo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science, a Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology, and a PhD in Food Science (Food Safety) from Egerton University, alongside a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi. Before transitioning into elective politics, she worked in industrial dairy plant management and spent a decade as an agricultural and food science lecturer at both Kenya Methodist University and Egerton University. In the 13th Parliament, she leverages her technical and analytical expertise as an active member of the crucial Budget and Appropriations Committee, the Public Investments Committee on Social Services, and the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
