Alexander Mundigi Munyi

Alexander Mundigi Munyi is the current Senator for Embu County, elected in 2022 under the Democratic Party (DP) ticket. Born in 1966, he built his career over three decades at KenGen, where he worked as a Senior Plant Operator and later as a Building and Construction Administrator across several hydroelectric power stations. His leadership journey began early, serving as chairperson of the Kenya Anglican Youth Organisation in the 1980s. Despite unsuccessful attempts at parliamentary and senatorial races in 2007, 2013, and 2017, he persevered and eventually won the Embu Senate seat in 2022, running a grassroots campaign with minimal resources. In the Senate, he serves as Vice Chair of the Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries Committee and sits on the Labour and Social Welfare as well as the Powers & Privileges Committees. His contributions focus on governance, devolution, and anti-corruption, earning him recognition as an active legislator. Munyi’s educational background includes a diploma and bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, reflecting his strong faith-based foundation. His story is one of persistence, community presence, and dedication to public service.
